However, if we can actually tell you about the benefits of our product or service and then have someone else show you that it works because they have bought the item or skill, then we create value. Then there is something within that sparks buying confidence within us.

I sat with a director of a construction company today and heard him talk about his role as an amateur referee. He said he always left the field feeling as though he had got it wrong with some decisions. That was all he could think about. He felt it was the same in business today. Other people tend to look for our faults. You hear it on national television after a major team sporting event when the commentators go to town on what should have been.

Not perfect but Improving

We often have enough stamina to keep our operation just ticking over but I think that it should always be our aim to improve the business processes in order to increase our profitability. I have heard others say, ‘better to work wiser than harder.’
